BOOK (the “why”) – The Dementia Handbook: How to Provide Dementia Care at Home – This little book (108 pages) covers the philosophy of the DAWN Method and explains why it works. Many people find that just reading this short book has helped them to make the mind shift necessary to provide person-centered, strength-based care.
- BOOK (the “how”) – Dementia with Dignity: Living Well with Alzheimer’s or Dementia Using the DAWN Method – This book is longer (247 pages) and goes into more detail on how to provide care. It covers all the tools of the DAWN Method in depth with many real life examples taken from Judy’s experiences working with her clients. In Dementia with Dignity, Judy also explains how the DAWN Method came to be and gives ideas for further study.

Find Support
Caring for someone with dementia can be exhausting as well as isolating. If at all possible, don’t do it alone.
Research what help is available in your area. Seek out a local support group if one exists. Ask friends and family for help and contact organizations in your area. You might explore the following resources:
