In this video Judy Cornish explains how the DAWN Method came to be and what it is. She explains what dementia is and how it is different from normal aging. Judy then covers how to begin to prepare for dementia through changing our expectations and acknowledging grief over the inevitable losses we will face as well as gives ideas for how to enjoy the present.

Preparing for Dementia: Part 2

In this video Judy explains how to get off on the right foot with your approach to dementia care including caregiver self-care, managing moods, and understanding what emotional needs need to be met for someone to be at peace. She also describes how dementia changes our loved one’s perceptions of reality and how correcting them becomes unkind.

Preparing for Dementia: Part 3

In this video Judy gives an overview of the different stages of dementia and how to increase support as the condition progresses.
